“Liz is not only a remarkably talented rider, she is a gifted teacher…. a rare combination. As an “older” rider who, upon retirement, took up dressage with no background in horses and absolutely no knowledge of dressage, I put that gift to the test. In my years with Liz , I have found her to be incredibly patient, never condescending and always eager to help each rider reach his/her full potential while appreciating the limitations that each of us may have (old age, for example!!). She understands a rider’s comfort zone and gently nudges, never pushes, the student to expand that zone by improving the rider’s skill and confidence. She is able to explain concepts in any number of ways so that the rider can think of things in different ways and find what works. She doesn’t take shortcuts; she values the well-being of both her students and their horses. The improvement that both my horse and I have made since moving to Drew Training Stables on a full time basis has been amazing. Without Liz’s guidance and encouragement, I can honestly say that I would have given up riding long ago.”

“I had lost my confidence in my riding abilities due to some bad experiences on a variety of horses. After 20 years of riding dressage I was thinking of giving it up entirely, but Liz encouraged me to take some lessons, both on her school horses, and on my own horses, as she felt that my physical riding ablities would allow me to overcome the mental blocks I had built for myself. She also gave me some exercises to do to help strengthen my seat and core, which gave me more confidence in my riding abilities. After working with Liz for a few months and doing the exercises that she outlined, my riding has improved dramatically, and, more importantly, my confidence level has increased so that I can effectively ride my horses again. Liz never overwhelmed me but gradually allowed me to gain more trust in both my horses and in my riding abilities. She has a true gift in understanding each rider’s feelings and physical limitations, and she works to improve the rider based on their own personal goals.”
