Lessons

All lessons are private and individual. Maximum learning occurs when close team work is developed between instructor, student and horse. A written plan assists in monitoring the progress of the student and in making sure the student’s expectations are being met. This Rider Assesment Strategies & Log document is a sample of the type of plan that Liz will use to assist each student in reaching their riding goals.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

DTS will reschedule or hold over one lesson from the package of 4 if 24 hour notice is given. More than one cancellation in every 4 will be charged. Any lesson will be charged if you fail to call with adequate notice to fill your scheduled lesson time. Illness and bad road conditions are exempt. Temperature Policy: If the temperature is below 20 or above 98 degrees F, lessons will be automatically cancelled and rescheduled as soon as possible.

INTRAMURAL COMPETITIONS:

Students are given a “Goal Achieving Point System” at the beginning of the year. It includes: number of practice rides, volunteering at a local show, reading a dressage book, etc. At the end of the year, students who turn in their log books are considered for an award of 4 free lessons. We hold “fun shows” when students are “almost” ready to show or just need a little practice. These are informal dress rehearsals that give our students confidence before entering a “real” competition.

COACHING OR SHOWING AT COMPETITIONS:

55.00 per day, unless more than 5 students attend, then $250 per day divided by competitors.

OTHER BARN ACTIVITIES:

The “Drew Crew” gets together several times each year in addition to showing together.
